About Forest Holidays

Forest Holidays

We’re a Certified B Corp

Our business has been recognised as a force for good

It's what we’ve always known: our holidays are good for people and the planet. We’ve never done business as usual. Our holidays are unique, and so are we. We’re a team of 800 people. We’re stewards of 244.5 hectares of forest. We manage the land for conservation and create spaces in nature for people to stay. Our tucked-away cabin locations are always thoughtfully placed. They’re places to discover the wonders of nature and realise the part we all play in protecting it.

Our holidays do good

We’ve always done business differently. We're part of a collaboration where business and nature co-exist, and public and private organisations work together to support a vision that positively impacts the planet.

Today, we're still leading the way with a pioneering business model carefully balancing planet, purpose
and profit.

We’re unrivalled in our deep-rooted connection to nature and aligned with Government’s vision for the nation's forests: We lease the land we call home from Forestry England, Forestry and Land Scotland and Natural Resources Wales.

We’re their trusted partner to manage the land we occupy for conservation and create incredible holiday experiences for all. It’s much more than that too: the rent we pay is invested back into the nation’s forests.

We tick all the boxes, naturally

We’re unique in our commitment to sustaining the UK’s forests, ensuring long-term positive benefits to the woodlands, surrounding areas and communities. We provide sustainable holidays that help to create a brighter future for people and the planet – one in which we enrich, rather than exploit, our natural world.

We tread lightly and take nothing away but, as a business, we’re big enough to make a positive difference. The forest is at our heart and we’re passionate about protecting this powerful place of connection between people and nature.

And we want to ensure that we provide people with special places to discover, explore and enjoy for many years to come.

Only around 20% of Forestry England’s income comes from the taxpayer; they rely on generating revenue through timber, recreation and commercial activities.

Our Forestry England partnership

We're a part of our local communities

We’re a nation that loves the outdoors and we’re huge advocates of responsible travel to natural places. We have a low environmental impact but we’re big enough to make a difference. Our business respects nature and benefits ecosystems. It positively impacts and conserves the environment and educates the millions of people who visit us.

We support and give back to the rural communities we share our spaces with, but it’s much more than that, we’re a part of them. We don’t just operate in local communities, it’s from where we recruit our teams, find local tradesman and source local food, drink and gift suppliers. We like to roll up our sleeves and get stuck in too, whether that’s giving our time, sharing our expertise or joining community projects and campaigns.

Becoming a B Corp means the world to us

We’ve always held ourselves to account, and always will. But we want to ensure that we’re always meeting high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. Becoming B Corp certified was a natural step for us.

We’re a one-of-a-kind holiday business. That’s why we have the highest Land and Wildlife Impact Business Model score in the UK (we think perhaps in the world!). This impact business model is only for companies with a product or service that directly protects, restores or conserves the natural environment. Unlike many other holiday providers, nature conservation is a critical component of our business – from the way we design and build our locations to our long-term biodiversity enhancement strategies and our day-to-day operations. B Corp has recognised just how inextricably linked to conservation our business is.

For us, becoming B Corp certified is a celebration of how business and nature should co-exist, and a bold commitment to do more. It’s about more than reducing impact, it’s about being nature positive.

We’re committed. Long-term

Becoming a B Corp isn’t permission to stop and admire the view. With regular auditing, B Corp is an ongoing commitment and, importantly, as part of our certification we’re now committed legally, and morally, to the change we want to see

We’ve joined a global community using business as a force for good: a community we can learn from; a community to collaborate with; a community that prioritises people and planet.

And we won’t stop here. We’re committed to supporting Government’s long-term conservation efforts. With carefully established roots, over 100 years of our partnership to go with Forestry England, Forestry and Land Scotland and Natural Resources Wales, and work with other like-minded partners, we’re a business that can make a real difference. We’re newly recognised as a B Corp, but we have a long and proud history of doing things the right way.

We look after what we love

We’ve always done business differently. At each of our locations, we make sure we only add good things and take nothing away.

We’re unique in our commitment to sustaining the nation's forests, ensuring long-term positive benefits to the woodlands, surrounding areas and communities while carefully balancing purpose with profit. But we know we can, and want to, do better.
